Sidney Sheldon's: The Tides of Memory by Tilly Bagshawe

 This was a good read from start to finish. It seemed well researched though don't quote me on that as I don't live in either of the countries this was based in. The book had interesting twists throughout and had me feeling quite sad for all the characters involved bar one. One twist I didn't guess until it was revealed and felt stupid for it, kudos, another I guessed a little earlier and wished I hadn't been able to. Even with the underbellies of society showing face it wasn't deep enough to affect me and made the book more of an enjoyable read, regardless of characters' fates or outcomes. The ending had me sighing in gratitude.

Verity by Colleen Hoover

 Jesus funking Christ. This was my first Colleen Hoover book, I had no warning. First up is the emotional turmoil churning through my gut, poking my heart with black fingers and my feet are quaking, I think my stomach dropped down into them. I read Verity in an afternoon. The book trapped me, there were no out of place words or grammatical errors to pull me back to reality, kudos to Colleen and her editors. The book has me wondering if the protagonist will spiral down the same path as her predecessor, and feeling as if I were the one who had to make her next decision.  I feel shock, angst, and relief that it's over, but am finding it very hard not to cry in the confusion. I had to knock back a shot of Gaviscon and have been recuperating in bed for an hour, though it'll probably take me days to get over this. It was an amazing and dark tale using such a simple baseline, and though I wish I'd never put myself through it I'd probably pick up another of Colleen's books....
